Thought for the day: Why Not a Dead Bird?

An earnest nine year sat listening with pride as the teacher read his essay out loud to the entire class. The story described the curiosity of a small, caged bird, who left the safety of his cage, and the room, to explore the promise of freedom outside in the blue sky. The story described the soaring emotion and the final attack of the local, wild birds.

"A great story" said Mr Cousins, the teacher. "But there is one problem. The story is told in the first person, but at the end the bird dies."

The nine year old was confused. He stopped and thought, then raised his hand. "Sir, if we can accept a bird writing a story, why not a dead bird?
